Description
The specimen is a hemisected right kidney. The lower pole is replaced by a semispherical tumour
mass. This is tan in colour and contains focal areas of haemorrhage. There is a central stellate scar.
The tumour is invested by a thick pseudocapsule. The features are those of a renal oncocytoma.
History
This patient presented with a one week history of intermittent right flank pain and
haematuria. IVP showed a large tumour mass and right radical nephrectomy was undertaken.
